Roger Hey CEng, Managing Director
Roger founded Smart GB Services to provide independent advisory services to organisations navigating the UK’s energy transition. He has over 30 years of experience in the electricity distribution sector, spanning technical, regulatory, and commercial roles.
He is the current UK Chair of CIRED, the International Conference on Electricity Distribution Networks, which provides him with an extensive network of utility executives and grid operators across more than 40 countries. He is a co-founder of Energy Geeks, a policy advisory think tank whose members include former Ofgem officials and parliamentarians, and which publishes regularly in Utility Week. He also chairs the Voltage Matters Forum, an industry collaboration platform focused on voltage management challenges in UK distribution networks.
Roger’s technical expertise covers voltage management, distribution system operation, smart grid technologies, and regulatory economics. His particular value lies in the combination of deep technical understanding with regulatory insight and established relationships across all UK distribution network operator groups.
Tiffany Hey ACA, Finance Director
Tiffany leads the financial controls and assurance division of Smart GB Services. She is a qualified chartered accountant (ACA, ICAEW) who trained with Coopers & Lybrand in Nottingham and began her career as an Audit Commission auditor, providing her with a thorough grounding in public sector audit methodology and standards.
She went on to spend 29 years in NHS internal audit, working at Assistant Client Manager and Client Manager level across multiple NHS trusts. Her experience covers financial controls, risk management, governance, and audit committee reporting. She maintains her CPD and brings current technical knowledge to every engagement.
In addition to leading client delivery on financial assurance work, Tiffany serves as Finance Director of Smart GB Services, providing governance and financial oversight for the company itself.
